Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are made of a substance that is found naturally in the body, its main role to attract water and provide hydration to the skin. Dermal fillers are injected into the skin to restore volume or revolumise areas of the face, enhancing facial contours and restoring a natural and youthful appearance.

Dermal fillers are injected to soften lines and wrinkles or to enhance facial volume and restore facial contours that have weakened with time. Areas that can be treated include:
  • The area around the mouth
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Cheek augmentation
  • Tear troughs (Dark circles)
  • Lifting of the lower face
  • Defining the jaw
  • Chin enhancement
  • Lip enhancement
Results can be seen immediately post procedure, however the true result is best noticed 1-2 weeks after once swelling has subsided.
Dermal fillers usually lasts between 6 to 9 months, depending on skin type, lifestyle and skin maintenance. Some longer acting Dermal Fillers can last between 9 to 18 months.
Side effects of dermal filling may include swelling, redness and occasional bruising. This will disappear within a couple of days although occasional severe bruising can last up to 10-14 days.
There is no pre-treatment requirements however, the following post-procedure advise should be followed:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours post-treatment
  • Avoid alcohol consumption for at least 24 hours
  • In the initial 24-48 hours you may experience swelling, redness and tenderness which is normal and will subside within 2-4 days post-treatment
  • At the injection site, you may see bruising which will resolve 1-10 days post-treatment
  • An icepack may be applied for swelling and comfort post-treatment
  • Ensure to keep hydrated and drink plenty of water
