Lumecca® is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. After just one use, patients notice significant improvements in the complexion and clarity of the skin. Lumecca Improves the appearance of age spots, sun damage, vascular lesions, rosacea, freckles and uneven skin tones.
Who is the treatment suitable for?
Lumecca is exceptionally beneficial to treat:
Sun damaged skin
Is the procedure painful?
We have a range of options that depend on the power settings for your procedure and your sensitivity to pain. Many patients find that the treatment is quite comfortable and can feel a slight warmth of heat against the skin. For people who are more sensitive to pain, this can be supplemented with oral medications prior to treatment however most patients find they do not need this. Patients who have experienced other methods of skin resurfacing or laser therapies typically remark that Lumecca is significantly less painful and has a much easier recovery.
How does the treatment work?
Light of different wavelengths is emitted to target melanin or vascular lesions, then the targeted lesion is destroyed and naturally removed from the skin, making it disappear or less noticeable from the skin surface.
How many treatments will I need?
Depends on how deep your pigmentation or vascular lesions are. Many people see improvement just after 1 treatment. The average number of treatment required is 1-3 sessions performed monthly. This will be determined in your initial skin consultation with one of our skin specialists.
Is there any downtime after the treatment??
Usually there is little to no downtime associated with our Lumecca™ treatment. As a reminder, in the first 2-3 days after the treatment, you might see a darkening of pigmented spots, then it will flake off. During this time, we recommend you to avoid direct sunlight and heat inducing activities.
Can Lumecca be combined with other procedures?
Lumecca™ is often combined with our Forma Facial and Fractora procedures. Many of our patients combine Lumecca with facial fillers, relaxants, chemical peels, enzyme therapy, DermaSweep and LED. Our team can design a customized plan that meets your individual needs.
Is there any pre and post care required for the procedure?
If you are not using any active cosmeceuticals in your home care routine, we will start you on a basic pre-treatment regimen two weeks before you have the procedure to prevent hyper pigmentation, reactions and to speed up any downtime. A post treatment balm will be required to use 3 days post treatment.
